By EuropeanServices on July 23, 2007 - 5:33pm

Whether you are an au pair, babysitter, caregiver, nanny, nurse or domestic worker, we welcome you.

If you are from Europe, speak a European language, or wish to work in a European family, please join us on Thursday, August 30th, 2007 from 6 pm to 8 pm at our first ever:

Kitsilano Nanny Fair!

Cost is $2 per nanny and this will give you a chance to meet suitable families, share your story with other nannies and also to hear about the live-in caregiver program.

Location is at the Trinity United Church at W. 2nd and Larch (1805 Larch Street).

Canada Needs an Au Pair Program

By EuropeanServices on February 20, 2007 - 6:24pm

Most every civilized countries in the world have an au pair program, and Canada should, too.

If you are interested in learning more about this issue, please read:

www.europeaninhomeservices.com/blog

I have written about a. the history of au pair programs in Canada and b. the difference between live-in caregivers and nannies.

Soon, I will be starting a petition to the Right Honourable Stephen Harper with signatures from families/parents/au pairs to get a Canadian Au Pair Program started. From families who need part-time care or unique hours of care, as well as au pairs who would love to come here to learn English and immerse themselves in Canadian culture.

There are so many "au pairs" here unofficially through findaupair or worldaupair or greataupair (or...), and with no official program, there is no protection for the family or nanny when something goes wrong.

If you agree, please leave a comment. Together, things can change!
