Who puts vinegar on their eggs?

By artboomer on December 20, 2007 - 12:28pm

A blog is an online personal dairy for most. But it can be about and be used for anything from (community) news, reviews, products for a business, and for local organizational groups. This is great as it helps the user stay in touch with the website with new and up to date information…

That is a lot of information to grasp when one only has limited time to surf on any given blog site. Perhaps it is about time to redefine blog management i.e. introduce blog categories/headings.I find this blog site like most just too broad base for what a “personal blogger” is looking for and what may be considered an appropriate blog above or below a "personal" blog entry. And is not the majority of bloggers individuals writing a daily personal continuum on various subjects close to them.

I do not want to be shuffled onto the same blog page as those selling homes, cars or other seasonal products. Having my blog next to these or above or below an organization, or business blog is like sprinkling vinegar over my scrabbled eggs!

Perhaps it is time for blog website homepage interfaces to be more sensitive to ALL bloggers
by introducing definitive blogging links like:
Personal or Speakers Forum, Business Info, Real Estate, New Products, Think Green to Charity and Community Organizations.

…the floor is open.

Canadian APATHY behind all those smiling faces...

By artboomer on December 17, 2007 - 3:32pm

Over the weekend two of the mainstay news stories dealt with:
1. Showing off one of three new BC Ferries, appropriately named "Coastal Renaissance" (going back to our old habits of not supporting Canadian Industry). A smiling BC Ferry CEO declaring proud faced it was a subsidy issue why NO BC shipbuilder was even allowed to bid on the contract.

2. Then there were all those smiling faces from government officials/minister, our infamous Vancouver mayor, including Hyundai Rotem CEO winner of the 2010 SkyTrain contract posing in front of the first completed 2010 SkyTrain...

Beware, beware of the handshake
That hides the snake
I'm telling you beware
Beware of the pat on the back
It just might hold you back
Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth
Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof

There was a "Whole Lotta Love" at the London O2 Centre last night!

By artboomer on December 11, 2007 - 9:31am

Scanning the London (England) online newspapers this morning. The reviews are in. Led Zeppelin was a raving success. They sounded "renewed" not like a "reunion" band just going through the motions. After not playing together for 27 years and pumping out 16 of their most memorable tunes the critics proclaimed they were still the REAL deal.

It is also important to note that Led Zeppelin left the O2 Centre without making any reference to their future together, there was NO “See you next year!” or “Until next time"...
We'll see in the days and months ahead what this REALly means.

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face
And stars fill my dream
I'm a traveler of both time and space
To be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race
This world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait
All will be revealed
(first verse "Kashmir")

It PAYS to be rich when you commit market fraud

By artboomer on December 10, 2007 - 2:29pm

Just in on the newswire Conrad Black is found guilty of obstruction and 3 charges of mail fraud. His sentence is 61/2 years in a federal prison and a fine of 125K. Now at age 62 Conrad will miss over the next plus 6 years special family events like births, weddings, family reunions, vacations, and of course concocting "shady business deals". bla, bla, bla, bla, bla!
This is ALL YOU GET when stealing and cheating millions and millions of dollars from those who believed in your money making abilities! This is no Enron but where do I sign up for market fraud - it PAYS.

As Emerson, Lake & Palmer once wrote...
He had white horses
And ladies by the score
All dressed in satin
And waiting by the door

Oooh, what a lucky man he was.

Thanks YVR Airport Authority for FINALLY making our international visitors more welcomed!

By artboomer on December 8, 2007 - 11:16am

YVR made sure last night that ALL local city newscasts and their global feeds reported on their much improved, much needed multi-language information kiosks, info screens, passenger list screens, and multi-language phones and signage while adding more security staff in custom areas. Well done.
Creating a permanent memorial for Robert Dziekanski was the politically correct thing to do. Bravo.
Now if we can only convince our RCMP in losing their happy gun slinging tasers...
The only way I will ever see that day is on the day we get to elect our city Police Chiefs and RCMP Commissioners! Is it not time that all our law enforcements were "accountable" to those they were hired to "serve and protect"?

"I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.
Yes what a wonderful world"
(thanks Satchmo - thank you YVR)

The constellation Orion reveals many galatic treasures during the upcoming clear evening skies.

By artboomer on December 4, 2007 - 11:32am

In the upcoming rare Vancouver clear nights - enjoy an evening walk and look first southward and to the eastern horizon where you will see the constellation Orion.
Inside this constellation holds some of the most active and spectacular galactic images. There are a number of visible nebula's that can be made out by the naked eye or using just binoculars. My favourite Orion nebula is the Horsehead (just under his belt and to the left) which can only be seen unfortunately through a very high powered telescope.
Also looking directly overhead is the constellation "Andromeda" - a fuzzy oval shape to the naked eye that is approx. 1.5 million light years away. The closest galaxy to our own Milky Way after our neighbouring Large and Small Magellanic Cloud Galaxies. An anomaly about Andromeda is while the universe is still expanding - pushing out - Andromeda is moving closer to us! Enjoy these upcoming clear evening skies.
EDIT UPDATE: Now I get it. My galatic images can be found under the above "Photos tab" - see "General"

The country that will win the most GOLD at our 2010 Olympic Games will go to China.

By artboomer on November 30, 2007 - 3:30pm

VANOC is turning our 2010 Olympic Games into a "Made in China" Games. Why do we have to have a Wal-Mart mentality when it comes to olympic consumer purchasing? A majority of Canadian consumers just don't seem to care where those shoes, clothes, mascots are made and under what unethical conditions secured from us. I am not talking about the less fortunate, shoe-string, welfare, low fixed income Canadians. They need access to lower prices in order to barely make ends meet - to survive. The Canadian consumer I am targeting are the upper and most middle class Canadians who can "afford" to buy more Canadian made goods. And yes there are a great number of foreign available products worth purchasing.
I was going to start a Facebook topic regarding Canadian consumer apathy ...but I realize those I want to reach are out buying the new Olympic mascots - not caring they are helping further stimulate the growth of the Chinese economy while taking away potential Canadian jobs. Remember VANOC turned down "Canadian" merchandising bids in support of their Chinese comrades knowing most Canadians won't care where any of their product merchandise is made. "Bargain basement pricing for higher profit comes before patriotism". Long live apathetic Canadians - we are what we buy.
If you would like to check-out my unofficial mascot Made in China flag...In the search bar type: VANOC, made in China.

VANOC your lack of support in our Canadian manufacturing will affect your mascot sales!

By artboomer on November 29, 2007 - 12:04pm

Well VANOC the verdict is in. Canadians are a much prouder race than you give credit. After your extensive market research geared to a younger market consumer YOU FORGOT it is the CANADIAN moms, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles who will be buying on behalf of your niche chosen pre-teen market.
Made in China for any merchandising is going to raise havoc with proud adult Canadians everywhere. And for many good ethical reasons including the loss of Canadian manufacturing jobs! How much research VANOC did you really do in seeing if Canadians were willing to pay a little more for Olympic merchandise that displayed a "made in Canada" label...not!
Your continued shortsightedness in the operations of our upcoming 2010 Olympic Games is turning into a national embarrassment! With your apparent allegiance to China no doubt we can expect ALL official Olympic merchandise and apparel to be "made in China".
Again you have a wonderful Canadian model to work from - the 1988 Olympic Calgary Committee - OCO'88. They at least supported Canadian manufacturing which launched the successful "local" apparel company "Sun Ice".
Perhaps VANOC you should really be marketing the Beijing Olympic Games!
You just don't seem to get it...back to the drawing board.

VANOC Why Are Your New Mascots Not "LOOKING" Canadian!

By artboomer on November 28, 2007 - 4:01pm

VANOC you never cease to amaze me...re: new mascot designs.

Yes they sure look cute but their rendered style unfortunately seems confusing to some Canadians. Today the local morning news stations interviewed a number of people on the streets of Vancouver and discovered that the majority thought they looked too Japanese (Manga Art), some were expecting the spirit bear, killer whale - that looked like a killer whale. Others flatly said they do not look Canadian enough rather Asian...Yikes.
