Wheels in Motion

By naim786 on February 20, 2008 - 9:09pm

I think the combined distractions of work, travel, new responsibilities and my absolute addiction to the U.S. elections (yes I am drinking the Obama-Kool-Aid) I've been a little neglectful of VancouverVibe.ca and the blog. The good news is, things are back in motion! We've got a few cool new updates based on user-feedback in the pipeline and I would like to share them with you now:

  • The Fancy-Shmancy Bookmarklet: Okay, it's not that fancy. Basically, if you're a Firefox or Safari user, simply drag our Bookmarklet (below) into your Bookmarks Bar. Now whenever you find a story you like, click on the Bookmarklet and it will fill in the URL and Title for you on VancouverVibe.ca and you're off to the races!

VancouverVibe.ca - Blog Launched, New Milestones

By naim786 on January 28, 2008 - 12:57pm

A couple of weeks ago I received some great feedback on a pet project a friend and I have taken on, VancouverVibe.ca, from a few members of Urban Vancouver. If you haven't come across it yet, VancouverVibe.ca is a user-contributed social news web-site, much like Digg, but focuses on Vancouver-specific content. We felt VancouverVibe would be a great forum for everyone from bloggers to musicians to small employers to further publicize their original content.

What we learned from the extensive feedback from members of this forum (as we take every opportunity to learn from this experience) is we need to enhance credibility and give the web-site a more personal feel. We've also started an advertising campaign on Facebook and on a local blog.

So, in that short time, and in large part thanks to the members of Urban Vancouver, we've:

  • Launched a new blog called TheCity: http://www.vancouvervibe.ca/blog
  • Added a Terms of Use Agreement to our Registration Page
  • Engaged new bloggers to submit their stories on the web-site
  • Attended Launch Party Vancouver 3 and intend to go to the Blogger Meet Up and Northern Voice
  • Surpassed 100 news stories and 50 members
  • Topped 1,400 unique visits in 2 weeks
