Blogging the Film Festival

I start volunteering at the film festival this week- the best volunteer gig the city has to offer that I know of- and if I am welcome to, would like to blog my film festival experiences here.
I'm in media this year- I e-mailed the press liason to ask if I could be added to the list-serv for the press screenings (volunteers and Visa Gold passholders are both welcome to attend press screenings- a little known fact) and she e-mailed back "Did you put down to volunteer with us this year? Would you e-mail me your availability?" and bammm, I've got my minimum hours done before the festival even begins. Last year I put in about twice the minimum, but this year, I want to see as many films as possible and volunteering during the day makes that difficult as many of the door passes for volunteers "sell out" while
you're doing your shift.
Anyone interested in putting in for volunteering, visit the festival website at www.viff.org. Many departments are full, according to the web-site, but they're always desperate for drivers. If you have a car, motorcyle, scooter or even bicycle, you may still be able to volunteer. For 32 hours, you get a program, a pass (the Visa passes are worth almost $300, and while you don't have quite the same priority for seats, you can see as many films as you get entry tickets) and the end thank you party, which last year was quite a blast.
