The Corporation Chosen for One Book, One Vancouver
By Richard Eriksson on May 1, 2004 - 5:26pm
I saw the movie in January with Tina, and now voters have wisely chosen The Corporation as the book to read for One Book, One Vancouver. I will do my best to cover the discussion of the book and its events here on Urban Vancouver, and that includes purchasing the book, reading it and making some notes for discussion.
Thanks for this post. I find this interesting that there is such a program as One Book. Also I followed the link to the book and noticed the ability to order the book new, but no links to used copies or barter/lend services that also might have a copy. I know I'm cheap but doesn't this limit their market? Lastly as your post mentions you will be doing follow up on this it would be cool if I could somehow subscribe to this specific follow up. Or is a way to do this to subscribe to the "Event" on the calendar? Would any further postings be CC'd to that event? Once an event is physically over does it still live within the site? Pardon all the brainstorming but just searching for ways Urban Vancouver adds value to me as a web surfer.
Regards,
Ian
Used books: my friend Trevor Jones recently sent me some books using ABE Books. You might check there, but it is a recently released book. Also, your local library will likely be carrying some copies as part of this initiative.
Subscribe to the follow-up: it's likely that Richard will start a topic in the book reviews section. Every piece of content (from events to blog postings to images to forums) should all have a "subscribe" link visible at the bottom if you are logged in -- hit this and you will get email every time a comment is added or the original content is changed.
Events live in the system forever. So I can talk about having attended the eCademy roadshow, and add comments to it after the fact. We have yet to enable a "remind me" feature that will send you an email ahead of an event, but that is functionality that will get added.
Whew! That's a long comment from me. Hope that helps explain a bit. I like brainstorming!
Richard also created a section in Special Reports where we'll add all the One Book related content.
