February 4th, 2008
Vancouver, B.C.

***For Immediate Release***

Just Here For The Beer .Com presents…Beer My Valentine’s, February 14th, 2008 at the Granville Island Brewery located on Granville Island. The event will feature gourmet chocolate from Rogers’ Chocolates and craft beer from Granville Island Brewing. This special event is a great chance for people who love beer, chocolate, live bands and those with a sense of adventure.

Just Here For The Beer .Com is Vancouver’s original beer tasting and education company and beer consultants. “This is the most popular private event we offer to clients” according to Colin Jack, president of Just Here For The Beer .Com and the Beer My Valentine’s coordinator. The beer and chocolate pairings were also a featured event at the 2006 & 2007 West Coast Chocolate Festival. “Beer is a lot more versatile to pair with food when compared to wine. Chocolate is no exception” explains Jack. “Beer’s natural carbonation cleanses and refreshes the palate increasing your ability to taste, savour and enjoy”.

Why spend another Valentine’s Day at home alone or why not try something everyone could appreciate. “Men love beer, women love chocolate and we all love to socialize!” jokes Rick Mohabir of Just Here For The Beer .Com. “This is the type of event perfect for single people and couples”, with a smile on his face Mohabir adds “there is nothing like dim lighting and a few beers to help put people in the mood for love”.

Event tickets are only $35 and include beer and chocolate samples, live music and door prizes. Tickets are available online or at the Granville Island Brewery Retail Store located on Granville Island. The beer and chocolate pairings start at 8:00 pm, perfect for after a dinner or not so.

About Just Here For The Beer .Com

Just Here For The Beer .Com was Canada’s first independent beer tasting and education company founded by Rick Mohabir and Colin Jack in 2002. From humble beginnings the company has worked hard to create a unique business opportunity that has resulted in these “beer experts” becoming advocates for the beer industry as consultants, spokesman, historians, sociologists and guest speakers at a variety of trade shows. Just Here For The Beer .Com also owns and coordinates several special events throughout the year including The Canada Cup of Beer, Vancouver’s only Wine and Beer Festival and Beer My Valentine’s. The company started the original “Beer Tasting Class” at the University of British Columbia six years ago and also presents a variety of educational beer seminars and special training to interest groups including hospitality schools, restaurants and private liquor stores.

About Rogers’ Chocolates

The first Rogers' chocolates were made in 1885 by Charles "Candy" Rogers in the back of his grocery store in Victoria, B.C. He quickly became a popular man. In 1891, Rogers expanded his chocolate operation to the company's current heritage storefront on Government Street in Victoria and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, Rogers' Chocolates is owned by a small group of shareholders located primarily in B.C. The Victoria-based company now has 10 retail stores, several hundred wholesale outlets, and a 20,000-square-foot factory.

About Granville Island Brewing

When Granville Island Brewing opened our doors in 1984, we believed that British Columbia was ready for a premium, natural, unpasteurized beer similar to the famous German pilsners. And with our first release that same year, Island Lager, that belief was confirmed. A few years later we took the same desire to locally handcraft premium beers with all natural ingredients and applied it to the creation of Lord Granville Pale Ale, which soon after was re-christened English Bay Pale Ale. Thus began our tradition of naming our beer after local neighbourhoods.
