Disgusting Danone Litter!
By svacher on June 3, 2005 - 1:11am
Today I was walking down Granville St (at the corner of Granville and Robson) and saw a trash can that was not only filled to the brim with
little purple plastic bottles, but almost 30 of them were strewn below
the trash can and rolling every which way.

As I walked up the street to the corner of Granville + Georgia, I saw the culprits: Apparently the Danone company put out a promotion of a drinkable yogourt beverage, and were handing out free samples.
Unfortunately, the company that Danone hired (Celsius Communications) failed to provide adequate trash receptacles, and the litter was tremendous! Bottles EVERYWHERE!

I'm infuriated! This is BEYOND disgusting! Not only were the persons responsible for the promotion irresponsible, but they actually did a very poor 'cleanup' job afterwards. The trash cans that had been overflowing were still stuffed with bottles, as only the bottles beneath them had been cleaned up. There were still numerous bottles left on the street, to be stepped on or crushed by busses.
I personally documented every instance of litter that I could find that was directly related to the Celsius promotion, and will be sending a very chunky letter to a number of people tomorrow, including Danone, Celsius, and the City Counsel.
I ask that you do your part. This is unacceptable! Here are the people you should be contacting if you want to prevent companies like Celsius from trashing our city:
CELSIUS COMMUNICATION - RAPHAEL DE LACOTTE
This is the company/man who is personally responsible for the promotional work. Please tell him that he is not welcome to return to our city unless he provides adequate trash receptacles to dispose of the free samples:
