Burns Bog Fire, Sept. 11, 2005

Burns Bog Fire, Sept. 11, 2005

By Boris Mann on September 11, 2005 - 6:55pm

Fire outside of Vancouver (Sep. 11, 2005)

Anyone know what this is from? The haze is spreading over the city, but it was hard to make out where it was coming from. We saw it driving back along the 99 from Langley and the Feast of Fields 2005 event.

Update: as Richard says in the comments, apparently it's Burns Bog burning.

There was smoke in my neighbourhood, and thought it was coming from North of where I live, but I saw on the news that it was a fire about a mile wide at Burns Bog. They said the fire was about a half mile in and didn't threaten any houses since the closest ones are South, while wind was blowing the fire North.

I live in the North Shore and can smell the smoke.
Is there anything burning over there that I should be concerned about breathing in?

I think you have to look at the whole issue of health and smoke in perspective.

You probably breath in worse products from car exhaust or walking by smokers or frequenting establishment that allow smoking.

Most people in the areas closer may notice some irritation etc..sure it's not really pleasant.

The Fire was pretty amazing, i'v never seen anything like it. It made my community less boring HAHA. Although it's terrible for the forests. The smell is a lot better than smelling car when they drive by.

I posted on my new site the following http://www.robertscales.org/node/44 post on the Burn Peat Bog Fire...

A side note- Out here in Port Moody, the Burrard inlet is still smoked out and a haze cover the park, very surreal..
