As you read this, Sun Microsystems is announcing their newest
computer chips for servers. The new T1 has eight cores, each
of which can handle four simultaneous operations, giving it
the capability to handle 32 simultaneous operations. This will
probably revolutionize the data-handling capability of their
Sun has also been into conferencing lately with Google, and
Java and Adobe and other big players to standardize and make
available even more and better open source programs for all
those of us who love Java and OpenOffice and some of these
other wonderful software developments already available.
Maybe, my wish for a Sun-inspired easier-to-use operating
system for desktops with limited capacity isn't far away.
We can certainly hope, anyway.
