Since we're heading for what looks like a January election, a few days ago I setup a PubSub feed of press and weblog mentions of the federal party leaders with reference to Vancouver, in hopes of being able to attend some of their rallies while on the West Coast. Turns out Paul Martin and Jack Layton were already gearing up for the election, according to an article in Le Devoir:
My translation: The campaign themes have already been chosen and repeated over the course of what had all the mark of the start of the campaign for at least two of the parties' federal leaders yesterday in British Columbia: incumbent Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin and New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton. (Yes, that was an easy one, and I suppose I could've picked an English source, but now seemed like a good time to dust off my French.)
I'm hoping the leaders and their supporters—and even those who don't support them—will help keep us up-to-date as to when they swing by Vancouver and other parts of this country, so that the people in the audience can help participate in telling the story of Election 2006. For those keeping score at home, you can use the feed I just created which includes searches for references to Vancouver and any one of the leaders of the NDP, Liberals, Conservatives and Green Party.
