Questions about moving to Vancouver

Questions about moving to Vancouver

By mike3k@drupal.org on January 9, 2006 - 2:41pm

I telecommute for a Vancouver-based company, but I've been thinking of moving up there this year. What's a nice place to live that's fairly close to downtown and a short commute from Dunsmuir & Beaty? How much can I expect to pay rent or what would it cost to buy a home? Where can I find home & apartment listings for Vancouver?

can help with rentals
for a 1 bedroom about $1200 a month in a walkable neighbourhood like Yaletown or the West End to your work at Dunsmuir & Beatty
other places are cheaper! hope that helps!

Hi there. I'm a realtor in Vancouver and absolutely love living downtown. One of the great things about working and living downtown is the ability to not own a car (happily for almost 2 years) - I own a condo and pay less in mortgage payments then almost everyone I know that rents. If you are interested I'd be happy to send you some information regarding both renting and purchasing. Either way - I am sure you will love living downtown - it's beautiful and there are endless things to do. Good Luck!

Downtown Vancouver has become prohibitively expensive for many people. We are seeing prices over and above $700sq ft. Just outside the downtown core is a brand new development called King Edward Village (http://www.KingEdwardVillage.ca). This is a concrete high-rise development less than ten minutes to downtown Vancouver by car. Prices are currently under $500/sq ft, comparable to new construction in Surrey.
