More info with links can be found from the CIRA press release. Owners of .ca domain names have voting rights at the meeting but anyone may attend by registering.
Ross Wm. Rader is running for a position on the CIRA board and has been endorsed by his employee Joey DeVilla. (The voting period happens a month and a half after the AGM.)
I nominated Ross when I saw he was running. Don't know him personally, but definitely sounds qualified. He has his own blog, so he can't be all bad, right?
I nominated Rader as well as Ahsan M. Upal and Michael C. Richardson for their visions for CIRA: the former wants better transparency and competitive pricing, and the latter is looking for better customer support and better adherence to Internet standards. Scott F. Thompson runs a weblog-like site called CADOMAIN.com, although the front page has not been updated in almost a year.
Ross is (unofficially, of course) nominated, as is John Demco. My two other picks don't look like they will get enough support to be nominated, however.
I have read the statements for each candidates on CIRA's website. I will for sure be voting for Ahsan M. Upal. I also went to his website at www.upal.ca. He appears very qualified with the right experience and a sound vision for CIRA. Appears very genuine too. I have read some of his responses on the CIRA's Q/A Forum and its seems that he really knows what he's talking about.
