"Even when the soldier dreams, the war goes on"

MARCH 1, 2006, VANCOUVER, BC – I’m A Little Pickled Theatre Company continues its 2006 season with The Soldier Dreams, Daniel MacIvor’s award-winning play about life, death and grief.  This moving but comedic play revolves around David who is dying from AIDS, with his family surrounding his bedside trying to decipher his final mumbled words. While in his dying state, David is reliving the time he met the love of his life - a German student studying medicine in Canada, and how it attributes to his death.

Leanne Koehn (Good Night Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet) directs the multi-talented cast of Randie Parliament (Six Degrees of Separation, Wild Abandon, Fire Dance) as David and Gordon Trites (The Tempest, As You Like It) as the mysterious Student.  Family and friends that rally around David in his final hours are Sam played by Lee Vincent (The Arts Club production of The Diary of Anne Frank, Other Freds, Studio 58 grad), Christina Schild (Hay Fever, Titus Andronicus) as Tish, Brianna Mason (30 Helens) as Judy, and Shafin Karim (Arrivals and Departures, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom)  as Richard.

The premier of The Solider Dreams won two Dora Awards in Toronto and continues to engage audiences with its universal theme of death of a loved one.    Throughout his career as an award winning playwright, Daniel MacIvor has earned seven Dora Mayor Moore Awards.

The Soldier Dreams runs March 21st to 25th and March 28th to April 1st at Havana Theatre, 1212 Commercial Drive.  All shows are at 8 p.m.  Preview Night is March 21st with tickets $10.  All other nights, tickets are $15 and are available at BizBooks (302 W. Cordova St.), Little Sister's Book Store (1238 Davie St.) & TicketsTonight.ca   Wednesdays are Out For Kicks Fundraising nights with $10 from every ticket being donated to the Out For Kicks Montreal OutGames fundraising efforts.
