Webbing Out: Broken by C.E.Gatchalian, March 1-11 at the Firehall Arts Centre

Here I am, hanging again in the theatre community and promoting my friends here. And there is nothing anyone can do to stop me!

Bold. Disturbing. Innovative. Exhilarating.
Just a sampling of the adjectives people have used to describe the plays of Vancouver dramatist C. E. Gatchalian.
In the words of renowned playwright Bryan Wade, Gatchalian's plays are "like jolts of espresso being downloaded into your brain circuitry." And just when you've been lulled by the metronomic rhythms of his dialogue, a biting phrase or an unexpected gesture pulls the carpet out from under you.
Tanja Dixon-Warren, Michael Fera, Ntsikie Kheswa, Thrasso Petras and Nelson Wong are five actors brave enough to tackle the unforgiving complexities of a Gatchalian script. Under the direction of Sean Cummings, they have all found their way through the maze that is Broken, a suite of short one-act plays linked by common themes: alienation, obsession, violence, and love.
So will you be mesmerized by Gatchalian's work or left gasping for air at the end? Hop over to the Firehall Arts Centre and see for yourself--if you dare.
