Please consider my Vancouver based blog as an RSS feed

Please consider my Vancouver based blog as an RSS feed

By VancouVince@www... on March 12, 2006 - 9:05pm

Hello,

I've been reading Urban Vancouver for some time now and while I will not be posting directly to it since I already have my own blog, I thought you might want to include my RSS feed in the Vancouver Blogs section. It is mostly a photo blog, but I also write about the city, in English and once in a while in French too.

RSS feed: http://www.photo-xposure.com/blog/index.php?/feeds/index.rss2

Atom: http://www.photo-xposure.com/blog/index.php?/feeds/atom10.xml

Blog: http://www.photo-xposure.com/blog/

Regards,

Vincent

Thanks for the heads up, Vincent. I added you to our aggregator, so you should get a link on the front page every time you post.

It's cool that you write in French once in a while, since I was in French-immersion in high-school and took a few courses in university, so I"m able to at least understand it when hearing it and reading it. Speaking and writing, not so fluent. Anyway, do you know of any other Vancouver-based bloggers who write in French? Or any other media written in French that's Vancouver-based and has an RSS feed?

Hello Richard,

Thanks for adding my blog to the aggregator!

As for other French written Vancouver-based blogs, I do know of a few, mostly posted by French expats' though:

http://hellostephanie.over-blog.com/
http://enniroc.joueb.com/
http://1yearatvancouver.over-blog.com/
http://fabienneandco.blogspot.com/
http://veroniquem.blogspot.com/

You'll find that most of them are written mostly in French, with some English posts, reflecting the authors' learning curve (they seem to be, for the most part, in Vancouver to learn English and discover Canada.) Interesting group of people, with a fresh look on the city.

Hope this helps, I'll post a new message if I discover new ones, now that I know you are interested.

Cheers,
Vince

Hello again,

I have found the feed to my blog in the news aggregator section, thank you very much.

A simple question: all other feeds show a title and a description that seems to be the beginning of the blog article; mine however, only shows a title. Is my feed poorly formatted? Should I change something on my end? (This is new to me, sorry if the question is dum ;-)

Cheers,
Vince

Drupal--at least the version of Drupal that runs Urban Vancouver--only recognizes content inside a <description> element in RSS. There's a <content:encoded> element, which means content will show up in other aggregators...basically if you can get what's in <content:encoded> to also appear between <description></desscription> tags in your RSS, the content will show up here too.

Thank you for your prompt reply, Richard.

I looked into it and got in touch with my blog's developper and he advised me against having both the and the tags together in one RSS.

As an alternative, if you think it worthwhile, it seems using my RSS 1.0 feed might solve the problem since it doesn't use the tag.

Thank you again and sorry for the trouble!

Vince
