CBC Radio to Broadcast from New TransLink Trolley

CBC Radio to Broadcast from New TransLink Trolley

By Richard Eriksson on March 20, 2006 - 11:59pm

New Vancouver Electric Trolley

A producer from the CBC contacted me asking me to post about the series about Vancouver transit culture, looking for stories from people and asking people to come the show on Friday. If you're interested, contact Dave Jones at David_R_Jones AT cbc DOT ca.

The CBC will broadcast from a new electric trolley like the one in the photo you see (that Travis Smith took; see also my blurry photo from 6 months later). Vancouver doesn't have even near the culture and enthusiasm for transit as do Toronto's, who were profiled in in a Toronto Star article about "transit lovers".

(I was hoping to launch a Vancouver transit community site before the broadcast, but I'm taking my sweet time getting the details on paper It was ages ago that I thought a weblog about transit would be a good idea, and I didn't follow through, so hopefully it's different this time.)

The details for the radio series, which has already started, which David Jones emailed to me, follow.

On the Coast is On the Go CBC Radio's drive home show is exploring the reality and the ritual of your afternoon commute in a special series March 20 to 24th. Join host Priya Ramu and crew for a LIVE broadcast from inside Translink's newest trolley bus.
