moving from halifax to vancouver !

hello everyone ! I heard so much about your beautiful city and Id love to live there ! Im moving to vancouver because Im looking for a better arts scene and good people ! is vancouver a good place for progreessive rock / metal / jazz etc ( I play music and id love to get a band together !) ? is it hard to find accomodation online prior to moving ? are there good job oppourtunities ( I have a very extensive backgroud is the food industry ) ? how much would I need to save to move there if I was moving on my own ? ( I really dont wanna pay too too much on rent , I dont mind sharing etc )
