give it all up .. ?

give it all up .. ?

By compulsive on May 23, 2006 - 11:24pm

Hi all, welcome this is a post from one of your Vancouver Blogger Neighbors.

I blog @ www.compulsivedesign.ca and will be beginning a full video feature in June.
I will be attempting to dual post, as soon as I talk with the powers that be here to find out how,
but in the meantime I have included today's post for your consumption.

I received an interesting call today, from an investment company
currently seeking managerial staff. The gentleman who called "Chris"
asked me if I had ever thought about trying something new. It seems
that he used to work for IBM and left for a managerial position at the
unmentioned firm, and keeps his eye out for other computer workers who
may fit the same bill. He saw my posts on Monster.ca for Final Cut Pro
contracts and decided that he should give me a call, now first off I
must say that he sounds like a super nice guy. But would I ever just
give it up to try something totally new? Would you?

There have been many times in my career, one that is slowly starting
btw, that I wondered if I just shouldn't go and do something else. It
never really stuck though, 1 because I love fcp editing and 2 because I
have so much $ invested in computers and software that it just seems
crazy. But this seems to be something that a lot of professionals do in
their middle 30's, they just pickup and do something totally diff.

So how about you? Would you ever do it? I suppose your answer is
probably the same as mine, "well that depends on what they offered"
...... so I guess I'll wait and see what they offer.

Of course my semi-day job wont impact my blog at all, this is what
keeps me sane! Well anyway it keeps me going. I am truly interested in
your comments though, as it really started me thinking what it would be
like just to totally jump right into something new.

btw I may have found a great deal on a new canon XL2 dv cam
and it should be great for my ShareTime feature so everything is lining
up great. I would usually rent a video camera but of course since I
need it monthly, and a camera with a little older tech will do just
great, it makes it a little easier just to buy one.

So remember that I am buying a Canon XL2 just for you! and I expect
something back real soon, and I am so totally picky you might as well
just send cash. Soon!

Well thats it for now, thanks again for dropping in.
