By ubc_internship on November 5, 2006 - 12:48pm

Hello,

This
message is to announce the next availability for internship students from the UBC International Business program.

UBC
Continuing Studies is actively seeking sponsor organizations to provide work
opportunities for undergraduate students to gain real world experience in their
areas of expertise. Over a two-month internship period, the
sponsor has an opportunity to utilize student assistance from project work to
day-to-day operation.

The
practicum period for this program will take place from January 3rd to February 26th, 2007. It is an
unpaid practicum
, and it is intended to expose students to workplace
expectations and demands in their chosen fields of study.

Students
enrolled in this International Business program come from well-recognized South Korean and Japanese universities, and they
are undergraduates from a variety of fields including Business Administration, International
Trade, Accounting, Economics, Journalism & Advertising, Tourism, English
Literature, Communications, Electronic Engineering, and Social Work. Many of them also had previous work
experiences in their study-related areas.
Therefore, our students will bring a diverse range of knowledge and
abilities to their sponsors in addition to their recent certificate program
qualifications.

Public,
non-governmental, and commercial sectors can all benefit from sponsorship,
including:

-
Administration offices

-
Hotels/convention centres

-
Marketing/advertising agencies

-
Academic institutions

-
Travel agencies

-
Entertainment productions and businesses

-
Non-governmental organizations

-

-

-

Students
enrolled in this International Business program will have completed a series of
business courses, professional seminars and communication workshops by the time
they begin their internship. Throughout
the program, students concentrate on developing professional business skills
like marketing researches, teamwork, communication, and presentation, with a
foundation of global knowledge in management and research, human resources
management, economics and finance, business law, international trade strategy, and marketing.

The
sponsor can expect students to be on site at the work location for a minimum of 5 working hours to a maximum
of 8 working hours per day
. While
students are on site at the work location during work hours, they are covered under the accident insurance policy
of the
University of BC.

There
is a short evaluation form to be completed by the employer at the completion of
the practicum, reviewing the student's performance during the practicum.

An
agreement package is available to interested organizations and all prospective
sponsors. If this practicum is of
interest to your organization, please contact me at the information below as
soon as possible.

Sincerely,
