Cheap Winter Clothes

Cheap Winter Clothes

By Smith Milner on October 5, 2007 - 3:27pm

If your looking for stylish and cheap winter clothes I suggest you go to the Westbeach store on Water ST in Gastown. I went this afternoon expecting to see some hugely expensive $400 hat or something. Instead, nearly all the merchandise was at discount there were shells for %30 off and last years coats (who really cares they're from last season, as long as they haven't been used) I bought the Westbeach style:7125 which is normally priced at $289.99 but I received it at $163.84(%50!). So i suggest there or even the Turkey Sale up in Whistler this weekend.

Not sure I would classify a $163.84 jacket as "cheap"...

if u want high quality, and functional and a name brand then $163 is indeed cheap! u can get non name brands (and just as functional) for cheaper of course!

Have you compared this stuff with what's available at Mark's Work Wearhouse,
or the Mountain Equipment Co-op? If I'm buying outdoor clothing, I try to
do it where they know about outdoor clothing, because I'm not looking for
fashion so much as practicality and protection from the elements.

Took me a second, but it was indeed %50 off. $289.99 divided by 2 is 144.995 but add %13 taxes, and it comes out to $163.84. Great find, Smith!

I have been buying a lot of my winter snow boarding gear on ebay, even with the shipping and brokerage I come out ahead.

Years ago I did commercial work for SportChek. I was told by the SportChek rep at the time the winter jackets we were setting up for a commercial shoot were tagged at a typical "winter season" - "300 %" markup price!
Funny how winter apparel at SportChek, Mountain Co-op and Mark's Warehouse are typically all in the same ballpark. Isn't this what we accuse our cartel oil companies in being guilty of?
A good quality deal for winter apparel I found is at Storm Tech (H2X technology) on Boundary Rd Burnaby side just before the highway one overpass. SportChek's worst nightmare!
