The country that will win the most GOLD at our 2010 Olympic Games will go to China.

VANOC is turning our 2010 Olympic Games into a "Made in China" Games. Why do we have to have a Wal-Mart mentality when it comes to olympic consumer purchasing? A majority of Canadian consumers just don't seem to care where those shoes, clothes, mascots are made and under what unethical conditions secured from us. I am not talking about the less fortunate, shoe-string, welfare, low fixed income Canadians. They need access to lower prices in order to barely make ends meet - to survive. The Canadian consumer I am targeting are the upper and most middle class Canadians who can "afford" to buy more Canadian made goods. And yes there are a great number of foreign available products worth purchasing.
I was going to start a Facebook topic regarding Canadian consumer apathy ...but I realize those I want to reach are out buying the new Olympic mascots - not caring they are helping further stimulate the growth of the Chinese economy while taking away potential Canadian jobs. Remember VANOC turned down "Canadian" merchandising bids in support of their Chinese comrades knowing most Canadians won't care where any of their product merchandise is made. "Bargain basement pricing for higher profit comes before patriotism". Long live apathetic Canadians - we are what we buy.
If you would like to check-out my unofficial mascot Made in China flag...In the search bar type: VANOC, made in China.
You're too new around here probably to remember one of our famous local
curmudgeons, Doug Collins. He was a reporter and columnist for the
Vancouver Sun for years, and after leaving there, he spent more years
holding forth in the North Shore News with regular columns full of long
same-subject-as-before rants until most normal readers were ready to
kick the guy where it counted, but were too polite.
So you're choked by the 2010 Olympics - join the club! But driving your
readers to distraction with the same old, same old every rant isn't
going to do anything for you, or for blogging, or, more to the point,
the 2010 Olympics - which can't be stopped from happening at this point.
Grow up, bite the bullet, and get on with something else! You sound like
a broken record on an old turntable with a worn-out needle. Shame on you!
I wish you would quit photographing the "same old, same old" - I'm tired at looking at the same predictable images. It seems like you're trying to make your pics look like postcards - how unoriginal is that! The idea of blogging is to give "anyone" the opportunity to express their opinion whether you agree with them or not. To stop blogging on important issues like the loss of life by taser happy RCMP is just what the police and local/provincial governments want you to do (forget). Just because you enjoy throwing in the white towel and "moving on" doesn't mean I or anyone else will. Your an embarrassment to my proud Vancouver heritage since 1806. Idiot.
Perhaps it is time you followed fundamental blogging decorum. It is OK to make harsh slanderous comments about someone's blog. But when you go after their character like referring to Bruce as "Brucey" in your opening line...look out.
I have known Bruce for over 20 years he is very passionate in politics and nobody here at the office would dare call this 250 lb. 400 lb. bench pressing frame "Brucey". You crossed the line on blogging etiquette. If you don't like his blog philosophy then just don't read it. (You know his username). I know he called you an idiot at the end of his back atcha comment. Knowing him as I do he was probably putting closure to your unnecessary character slander. You don't want this big man coming after you. If I were you I would apologize or do something you seem to be good at - moving on - and off this blog site.
...there is no need for anyone to apologize or move on.
"Artboomer" sounds awkward to me. That's why I chose "Brucey" - your name IS Bruce, isn't it? And why did I pick "Brucey" as opposed to Bruce? Damned if I know... But I
certainly wasn't expecting to get dumped on for it like these rants from "Anonymous"
here and elsewhere about it. Before I retired, I finished off my career with Hydro in
Squamish - the redneck capital of the West - or it was 20 years ago, when I was there.
One of the regulars at the best watering hole in town was a guy who owned 18 logging
trucks, and fancied himself able to insult anyone he chose around there. He called me
"The g**d***** fairy", because I had a sun-bleached burgundy leather motorcycle suit,
which made me look a bit iffy, and Bruce being Bruce just couldn't believe that this
guy in the fancy leathers could have two ex-wives and five kids and be disgustingly straight. So to even things up a bit, I started calling him "Brucey", and surprisingly
enough, that broke the ice, and we finally became friends. Bruce and I didn't really
care what the other called us, because we both were quite secure about who we are.
I apologize for calling you something that obviously upset you very much - for whatever reasons. I shouldn't have assumed that you'd take it as a friendly greeting. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. If I'd known how thin-skinned you are, I wouldn't
have taken liberties with your name. I do wonder about those "Anonymous" pals who
jumped into it, though. How big and strong can they be if they have to hide behind
a handle like "Anonymous". What the hell's with that? And if it makes you feel any
better, you can call me whatever you like - just don't call me late for lunch!
I HATE being late for lunch. I appreciate your saying "no need for anyone to apologize
or move on". That's very kind, considering that you've been here on this site for
1 week and 4 days, it says, and I've been around for 2 years, and 40 weeks. But you
could be right - maybe it's time I DID move on. When newcomers of less than two weeks
start raising hell and talking about their heavy friends, maybe I am on the wrong kind
of site.
