Experience the picturesque heritage atrium of the Sinclair Centre Mall in downtown Vancouver as it shimmers with the reverberant sounds of the Tempest Flute Choir, a 10-member ensemble that will perform while spatially positioned around the room.
Repertoire for this concert will consist entirely of new works written especially for the unique acoustic and architectural features of this performance space. Don’t miss the innovative new music of Canadian composers Rose Bolton, Derek Charke, André Cormier, Anna Hostman, Chris Kovarik, James B. Maxwell, Greg Newsome, Jordan Nobles, Benton Roark and Carl Winter.
The Tempest Flute Choir is led by acclaimed musician Mark McGregor, described as a “mind-blowing flautist” (Victoria Times Colonist) who performs “with tremendous flair and intensity” (Globe and Mail). Since the ensemble’s inaugural concert in 2005 (Birds in the Atrium, Vancouver Public Library) the Tempest Flute Choir continues to perform in unconventional venues.
