No history of Vancouver could be written without acknowledging the role of the neighbourhood activists who led the fight against freeways, out-of- scale development and whatever other atrocities were threatening their communities. Tonight, a few representatives — Shirley Chan from Strathcona and Jacques Khouri from Kitsilano — will tell their stories, along with Margaret Mitchell, a pioneer of community development.
