Singer/songwriter Scott Jackson is taking part in a songwriter’s circle at The Wired Monk at 2610 West Fourth Ave., on Saturday June 21st at 8:00 p.m, along with musicians Monica Lee and Lindsay May.

Jackson is truly one of Canada’s national treasures. “If you put Tom petty and U2 in a studio together,” Jackson explains, “the Scott Jackson sound is what you might end up with!” At the age of 21, Jackson picked up an acoustic guitar and began writing songs. Shortly thereafter, he launched himself onto the Vancouver music scene with the release of his first solo CD, “Via Satellite.” Producer Jerry Wong (Damn The Diva, Bif Naked, Loverboy) was so impressed with Jackson’s song “What Are We Waiting For,” that he became Jackson’s musical collaborator and urged him to record a 6-track EP, which was released as ‘My World.’

The disc’s upbeat power single, “C’mon C’mon,” garnered radio play at over 20 stations across Canada, winning against U2 and Green Day, and received a rating of 75% Kool at Kool FM in Kitchener, one of the highest ratings any song has received during the life of that contest. The single is paired with a full-production Video Release which is awaiting airplay on Canada’s major video stations. The songs ‘What Are We Waiting For’ and ‘Welcome To My World’ received subsequent airplay on The Quake FM Radio, KOZI FM Radio, Fearless Radio in Chicago, WDNY in New York, and across Canada. The band toured the States to packed houses following the album’s American release.

Jackson has taken the internet by storm, with more than 30,000 fans listening more than 500 times a day, on his Myspace.com web page. His fan base extends to south of the border in the States from Washington State to California. Internet radio stations all over the globe have continuously played C'mon, C'mon, and the introspective alternative country track "Precious Things" has received rotation on radio stations in St. Louis, New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, as well as Germany and Denmark.

‘My World’ won rave reviews from the press, including The Vancouver Province and The Daily Vault. Producer Jerry Wong (Damn The Diva, Bif Naked, Loverboy), was so impressed by “My World,” that he became Scott's music collaborator. Wong subsequently produced Jackson's most recent full-length album release "Distractions.” Don Coleman of A&R Group International has this to say about Jackson, “Heartfelt, Powerful, Passionate, Deep, Sincere. A natural born wordsmith who senses the truth in all of us and transports the listener to a higher place. Scott Jackson is a hidden gem who hits home run after home run out of the park!

Jackson also works as a Behavior Consultant for Autistic and Developmentally Disabled kids, a vocation he holds very dear to his heart. His vision is to find a way to use music to create a greater awareness of the need for best-practice-treatment for kids with Autism. A devoted husband and father, Jackson resides in Maple Ridge, British Columbia with his wife and children.

Lindsay May takes a “no slouch” approach in life and music. “My philosophy is that if you want to get better at something, you have to do it every day,” says the Kelowna, B.C. native. After an encouraging opening set for international folk singer James Keelaghan and a spot in Kelowna’s Woodstock festival, the adult contemporary singer made the move out to Vancouver in 2004. With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and shelves overflowing with books about the music industry, songwriting, guitar and more, Lindsay May put the business in music with the 2008 release of her debut album, Bronze & Blue.

Bronze & Blue is certainly a testament to Lindsay May’s determination and passion for music. A compilation of experiences in love, life and work, her satin vocals are complimented by a pinch of saucy and a dash of imagination. “The album is named after my song ‘Bronze & Blue,’ which is about cheating on someone while away with friends on vacation—something I’ve never done, but I got the idea and ran with it.” Bronze & Blue will grab fans with its melodic guitar grooves, drawing listeners into soulful, yet light-hearted lyrics. With its Sheryl Crow meets Sarah McLachlan timbre, Lindsay May’s captivating voice will either move you to dance or soothe to sleep. Either way Bronze & Blue ensures a night of sweet dreams.
