So - what happened to the Google browser launch???

So - what happened to the Google browser launch???

Welcome to 'Browser Wars' everyone. So far, Google's entry in the dozen-or-so browsers line is a 'no show', and they've removed links to its previously-leaked download site. Mozilla has also said there will be a 3-week or so delay in its next release of Firefox 3's upgrade, and that will also get another session in beta before going 'prime time'.

Looks like everybody's looking over everyone else's shoulders, and revamping their own stuff in hopes of getting the jump on the competition. For whatever it's worth, I don't see anything terribly wrong with Firefox 3, that a little twiddling with the Bookmarks code couldn't cure. So what's all the excitement about? (Yawn...) What excitement? This is about as exciting as three-day-old cow pies, Kiddies. I wouldn't lie to you about that.

Update: -
The squeaking wheel gets the grease - and a download of Google's Chrome Beta, if you want one. Just checked again, and there's an announcement on their main page just now for it. So they did get it dragged out the door and onto the launch-pad, but they missed their intended timing for its release on the east coast by two or three hours. I guess that's OK - those New Yorkers are too busy today watching the markets sinking after that hurricane failed to demolish all those oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.... but the season ain't over yet, Kids. And now, to see what the hell all the shouting at Google was all about....more later, maybe.
