The School for International Studies and Empowering Women of Burma (EWOB) presents a one-day comprehensive lecture and information session on Burma.

Lecture | Time: 2:30-6PM | Location: 1700 Labatt Hall

There will be a lecture from Professor Michael Howard and Professor B.T. Win covering pressing topics such as the international response to the Burmese crises, Canada-Burma relations, Historical, Political and International Relations, Rhetoric, and the Practice of Action-Oriented Human Service. Questions will be welcomed.

This lecture provides students and professionals with an opportunity to examine the purposes, context, procedures, and relationships within action-oriented methodologies, such as comparative policy analysis, program evaluation, participatory action research, and community-based research. Emphasis in the lecture is placed on experiential learning.

Information Session | Time: 1-10PM | Location: 1305 Teck Gallery Lounge

The purpose of Burma Day is to raise awareness of the people of Burma. The events will consist of a photo exhibit, video presentations, Burmese ethnic clothing displays, fabric designs made by refugees on the Burmese borders, child-play crafts including traditional massage tools and V.I.P. talks.

In the evening, please join us to meet Professor Tin Yee, founder and Director of EWOB and winner of Women of Distinction Award, YM/YWCA Manitoba, 2000. EWOB is a non-profit, non-partisan, apolitical, and secular organization whose mission is to improve the status of Women and Children through education, sustainability and technology.
