On September 23, 2007, Glenn Wakefield left Victoria, BC aboard his Phil Rhodes designed Offshore 40' sailboat Kim Chow in an attempt at a single handed non-stop world circumnavigation west about, making him the first to attempt the uphill voyage from North America. Join Glenn and his wife Marylou as they recount the highlights of the journey that ended suddenly and dramatically 218 days later in the Southern Ocean off the coast of Argentina. January 30, 2009 8 pm HR MacMillan Space Centre Auditorium - Glenn Wakefield will make a presentation about his solo non-stop circumnavigation attempt as part of the Ocean Cruising Adventures 2009 program sponsored by Pacific Yachting and the Maritime Museum. Glenn left Victoria on Sept 23, 2007 and after 22,500 nautical miles and 215 days alone at sea, he was knocked over. He and his boat suffered severe damage and three days later he was rescued off the coast of Argentina. Don't miss Glenn's dramatic story and find out what his journey was really about.
