Todd Bertuzzi Charged With Assault Against Steve Moore

Todd Bertuzzi Charged With Assault Against Steve Moore

By Richard Eriksson on June 24, 2004 - 12:10pm

So far the wire services have reported
on it: Google News: Todd Bertuzzi has been charged with assault causing
bodily harm for the punch on Steve Moore on March 8th. Canucks Senior
Vice-President and GM Dave Nonis has released a statement:

We are aware of the charges brought against Todd Bertuzzi
today. The matter is now before the courts and we will continue to
support Todd and his family throughout this process. Although we
appreciate the interest in this development, the Vancouver Canucks
organization will have no further comment at this time.

TSN has a history of criminal charges relating to on-ice incidents, although the history is selective (not included is Marty McSorley's slash to the had of Donald Brashear).<>

Donna is upset that the charges has been laid:

I feel Todd and his family have paid enough from this whole
incident, and had he not been such a high profile athlete, or had there
not been so much pressure from outside sources, this would never have
gone as far as it did. The NHL should bow their heads in shame for
making such a scapegoat out of Todd, and some in the media should be
ashamed at their actions of showing up at his house with camera crewsBertuzzi charged.....

So Todd has been taken down from the cross with Wayne wiping away his tears of pain. The thorny crown he was wearing has been discarded and the title 'Prince of the Peace' has bee placed on is head. Once again wiping fake tears from his own eyes (as he did in March 04) and hoping Steve Moore recovers for Todd’s sake the true prince of hockey is back on the scene. And now he is a proud member of our Team Canada. Rejoice Canada for Christ Bertuzzi has arisen. Mean while the 4th liners line Steve Moore are shunned like the leapers of old. Our lord and savior Todd Bertuzzi, coming off suspension #3 now, rams a fellow hockey player from behind, cracks 3 vertebrae and probably puts a young man on the side lines for good and this cheap ass city, that I grew up in and played hockey in for 30 years, treats Bertuzzi like a god? Todd isn't the first guy to deserve a lifetime suspension I admit, but Todd did go out of his way to prove there are 'class' levels in the NHL. You’re a star? Heavy to Betsy nobody better hit you, ala Moore on Naslund. You are a grunt? Then a career ending cheap shot by a star is considered an acceptable if not approved. Crawford's stupidly rants, after the Naslund hit 2 weeks prior, 'It was a cheap shot but a punk player." Huh? Moore has never been suspended. Has no misconduct penalties, no suspension, only a couple fighting majors (2 taken the same night so forget the idea he didn't answer the bell when called) and he is a punk and goon? But all of this is water under the bridge. Now it is time for the NHL to come up with consistent penalties with season long (not 17 game long like Bertuzzi forget the 17 month bull) penalties and possible life time penalties. After all, give Todd 2 years and his sorry behind will be in the same position. Unless he is the guy with the broken neck, then what is this city going to say?

And what Tod did was not a sucker punch. A sucker punch is when two guys are face to face and one guy hits the other unaware that they were in a fight so he can get a quick victory because he can't really fight very good. Tod asaulted Moore from the back and he will be paying the price,,,now for sure,,,Vancouver deserves better than this A-Hole.

He is what he is like most Italians ,, a back stabbing coward. He is a criminal and he should never be allowed to play any sport ever. He is also the biggest ball baby that Pro Sports has ever let cry his eyes out on national TV and only because they want to make as much money from him before he finally can't play anywhere. A Professional Sportsman doesn't do what this stupid big baby did and stay in the game.
Toddy,,I hope you end up flat broke on skid road somewhere using drugs ,,but not in our city.,,,,UGLY TODDY
