The Roar of the Dykes on Bikes In the Distance

GarpinBC at World According to GarpinBC has written up his experience of the 2004 Vancouver Pride Parade, and has a few stories of the day. From one of the vignettes:

I found a spot near the end of the route where Jervis merges into Beach. I could hear the roar of the Dykes on Bikes in the distance – it always sends a chill down my spine and brings a tear to my eye. As the engines got closer to where I was standing, a crowd materialized out of thin air, blocking Jervis and threatening to impinge on the parade route. There was one really annoying older guy with a pair of girls who kept yelling at people to, “Stand back!
