World Poetry Youth Team Hosts: Yilin Wang, World Poetry Youth Team Leader and Anita Aguirre Nieveras, MA, Educator and professor, author of several books.
Jim Wong-Chu is a poet and editor. A nationally recognized and founding member of the Asian Canadian Writers’ Workshop, he is the writer of a number of published works of poetry, including Chinatown Ghosts (Arsenal) He had two meetings with us and gave us lots of helpful suggestions as well as doing an exceptional reading from his book.
Features: Israel Mota, poet, actor and musician, Spanish host of the World Poetry Cafe Radio Show.

We are honoured to welcome a new member and talented poet, Mutiu Olawuyi to World Poetry!
Mutiu Olawuyi (JP) is a Gambian-based Nigerian Poet, translator, literary critic, anthologist and activist. He is the initiator and Managing Editor of MUSE FOR WOMEN and POETRY ZONE groups (online) -where poets from corners of the world ink to say NO TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN and share their work for constructive criticism respectively. He published three collections of poetry titled: AMERICAN LITERARY LEGENDS AND OTHER POEMS (2010) and THOUGHTS FROM THE JUNGLE (2012) and 9/11 POETRY (2012). He edited and contributed to the maiden ANTHOLOGY OF THE MUSE FOR WOMEN (2012). His poems and articles have appeared in international journals and magazines in Nigeria, India, United States, Ireland, Greece, England and Canada. the cola-nut demography where – son
of the soil – I call proudly myself
even though my mother’s womb landed

Ariadne’s notes: We are so pleased to welcome Sultan Khilji, a talented poet and artist from Lahore, Pakistan to our World Poetry Site!
He will be interviewed live with hosts Ariadne Sawyer and Israel Mota and technician Medhi will welcome Sultan.on the World Poetry Cafe Radio Show on November 6 at www. coopradio.org at 9 pm PST. On November 7th the link will go up so you can download the show. The show is not available yet.
Sultan Khilji is an author and visual artist based in Pakistan. Just the spell of his name has a sense that’s royal, which entails history, shyness, maturity, and yet, is slumber-less. He demands immaculate perfection from himself. Sits and soaks himself with the world around him, and then takes his own time to spell it out in words, which craft poems.
He never claimed to be a poet, so when he pens he does it like he’s doing for the first time, as well as the last. Little afraid, a bit keen, overwhelmed and mesmerized with experience of his observation. He likes to listen to music, – any music. He likes to cook – any dish. He likes to paint – any form. Yet in all three there’s one thing in common – he’s creating poetry.

I won the award on the delightful Thursday as the Young Achiever in Literary Arts at the maiden edition of the National Youth Achievers Award by the Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana. The National Youth Achievers Award is a national recognition platform designed to publicly honour exceptional youths between the ages of 15-35, who have excelled in various sectors of the country, with the hope of preparing them for responsible leadership.
The Literary Art is awarded to a Ghanaian youth who has been involved in literary activities in his school or community, and environment by producing works that are likely and have contributed to the rich store of a Ghanaian literary heritage.

The film and a one time only special concert is coming to the Vancouver International Film Festival. The concert is presented in association with : Griot Senegalease kora and western trumpet coming to Vancouver to a special live concert performance on Friday, Sept. 28, 9:15 pm start at the Vogue Theatre. World Poetry has one pair of tickets for the concert. The first one who sends an email to ariadnes@uniserve.com will receive two tickets to this special event.
