'Oldest Living Blogger' - Out-scoring the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

By Ray on August 23, 2008 - 10:14am

It took a while, but I made it yesterday. The blog for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays is finally underneath instead of above my rank. Was it that last hurricane that did it? They'll never tell! Neither will I because I don't know... Enjoy your day, everyone.

Climbing the list...

It was a tough climb...

'Oldest Living Blogger' would like to remind you....

Enjoy your day, Everyone.

Whatever happened to 'Oldest Living Blogger'?......

By Ray on March 27, 2008 - 6:13pm

Oldest Living Blogger

My rating's been slipping drastically on Google lately, because I haven't been using my
old original nickname in my blogs. Maybe I'm vain, but a nice fat rating improves my disposition remarkably. I enjoy acceptance. But there's no 'free lunch', so if you want
the ratings, you have to earn them somehow, because nothing's forever.

So, Dear Google, reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated. I am, in fact, still very
much alive and kicking. Well, alive, anyway. Kicking isn't on the agenda just now, because
I'm recovering from some surgery to the old belly which involved four and a half hours on the operating table, and an incision eight and a half inches long from north to south. To the east and west of that, things are still more than a bit tender. But the good news is, I'm here
to be able to say so.

And if the Good Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise, I'll try to think up something
thought-provoking to write about, any day now. I can't promise you a scintillating essay
the likes of which Samantha is famous for, but I'll think of something - like for example,
why are some of the big eastern ISPs throttling back on their users' bandwidth allowances?
Is this a trend of the future? A scam to extract more money from us? Or what? If you can
find out, please add a comment here for the rest of us. And stay tuned, Folks...

Wheels in Motion

By naim786 on February 20, 2008 - 9:09pm

I think the combined distractions of work, travel, new responsibilities and my absolute addiction to the U.S. elections (yes I am drinking the Obama-Kool-Aid) I've been a little neglectful of VancouverVibe.ca and the blog. The good news is, things are back in motion! We've got a few cool new updates based on user-feedback in the pipeline and I would like to share them with you now:

  • The Fancy-Shmancy Bookmarklet: Okay, it's not that fancy. Basically, if you're a Firefox or Safari user, simply drag our Bookmarklet (below) into your Bookmarks Bar. Now whenever you find a story you like, click on the Bookmarklet and it will fill in the URL and Title for you on VancouverVibe.ca and you're off to the races!

The software powering this site has been updated...

By Ray on January 20, 2008 - 1:07pm

There have been some improvements made in the past day or so to the software and programming for this website, and you might like to familiarize yourself with some of those new conveniences.

Richard, our Webmaster and Chief Fixer-Upper has posted a comment here on page two, under the blog titled More thoughts on the new BC Transit Plan (second-last comment) which is headed as URLs now clickable and I feel this is important enough to warrant mentioning up front here on the front page. Richard has put a lot of time & effort into this, so please check it out.

Dear Samantha: An Apology....

By Ray on January 19, 2008 - 10:16am

I pounced on your five blogs in five minutes without checking around to see where they might have come from, which was your Blogger blog and then, I realized that you or someone else had simply moved five posts from there over onto Urban Vancouver, within a five-minute period yesterday.

I apologize profusely for teasing you and implying that you might be one of us mood-swingers in need of meds. If you actually know anyone like that, then you know that we tend to get most of our exercise from "jumping to conclusions", and I'm sorry about that, My Dear - I thought that I'd outgrown that tendency, but obviously I haven't. Please forgive me.

Who puts vinegar on their eggs?

By artboomer on December 20, 2007 - 12:28pm

A blog is an online personal dairy for most. But it can be about and be used for anything from (community) news, reviews, products for a business, and for local organizational groups. This is great as it helps the user stay in touch with the website with new and up to date information…

That is a lot of information to grasp when one only has limited time to surf on any given blog site. Perhaps it is about time to redefine blog management i.e. introduce blog categories/headings.I find this blog site like most just too broad base for what a “personal blogger” is looking for and what may be considered an appropriate blog above or below a "personal" blog entry. And is not the majority of bloggers individuals writing a daily personal continuum on various subjects close to them.

I do not want to be shuffled onto the same blog page as those selling homes, cars or other seasonal products. Having my blog next to these or above or below an organization, or business blog is like sprinkling vinegar over my scrabbled eggs!

Perhaps it is time for blog website homepage interfaces to be more sensitive to ALL bloggers
by introducing definitive blogging links like:
Personal or Speakers Forum, Business Info, Real Estate, New Products, Think Green to Charity and Community Organizations.

…the floor is open.

Our Chief Blogging Officer has said "Please blog about this..."

By Ray on September 17, 2007 - 10:55am

This started life as a monitor in the Blogger office,
hooked up to show all the pictures everyone was posting
to their blogs. It was so popular, they decided to make
it into a feature for everyone to watch, and here it is...
New from the folks at Blogger - a player for their pictures.
See it here: Blogger Play

Using the controls along the bottom, you can pause it,
advance or review images, and regulate the speed of changes.
By clicking inside a picture, it takes you to that site.
You can also save the pictures to your files.

Enjoy your day, Everyone!
