Social Learning Powered by Adaptive Technology

By legacyb4@drupal.org on October 16, 2007 - 12:19am

A friend's company has launched an online language learning/educational community that I thought might be of interest to some folks.

Cerego.com

"iKnow! is a community site for learning languages powered by personalized learning tools. We have built a suite of software applications based on years of scientific research into memory and effective learning methods."

Primarily targeted at non-English speakers, it can be adapted for learning other languages as well. Enjoy!

More from the Camels
Remember my mention yesterday of Open Office? Well, in today's news
a headline in The Inquirer says "IBM offers its flavour of Open Office
for free". It goes on to say that IBM has joined Sun and Google in
promoting the open source community, and has committed 25 developers
to it. The days of the locked-in proprietary package of programs
with an operating system are about over, Folks. I've said all along
that what we need is a basic O/S to which we can add our own choices
of components for browser, email, office suite, and media player.
Such as: Firefox, Thunderbird, Open Office, and WinAmp...

Another headline: "Air India probe blocked in 1989" - Seems to me
that we're devoting more space to this topic than the Second World
War. When are they going to move on ?

And Dame Kiri te Kanawa, asked to name the greatest singer that ever
lived, responded "The young Elvis Presley, without any doubt."
Hmmmm...."Me Jane, him Tarzan!" We didn't call him "Elvis The Pelvis"
for nothing, Kiddies. And when Kiri was born, Elvis was 9 years old.
Enjoy your day, Everyone !

P.S. - The classic definition of a Hippie is:
Look like Jane, Act like Tarzan, Smell like Cheetah.

Our Chief Blogging Officer has said "Please blog about this..."

This started life as a monitor in the Blogger office,
hooked up to show all the pictures everyone was posting
to their blogs. It was so popular, they decided to make
it into a feature for everyone to watch, and here it is...
New from the folks at Blogger - a player for their pictures.
See it here: Blogger Play

Using the controls along the bottom, you can pause it,
advance or review images, and regulate the speed of changes.
By clicking inside a picture, it takes you to that site.
You can also save the pictures to your files.

Enjoy your day, Everyone!
