On a warm July evening 1978, my portentous birth in Campbell River set off a chain of events that led my family to move to the Comox Valley, grow up and attend French immersion elementary school in Comox, switch to the Courtenay secondary school, move to Burnaby to attend school and remain in the Lower mainland to work and play.
